Florida Keys February 8-12 2023

Flight from Ohare to Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday. Upon arrival we stayed the first night in the Executive Suite at the Weston! Our room had 2 doors and was right on the ocean!

The winds were out of the west so the jelly fish were all over the beach and there were flag warnings for undertow and dangerous sea life

Iceland 🇮🇸

Beautiful Iceland!!!  Words cannot explain...and pictures don't nearly capture the beauty!!! We drove the vulcano path that erupted last year, we also swam in the Blue Lagoon!
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in southwestern Iceland.  The water's milky blue shade is due to its high silica content. It comes out of the earth at around 400 degrees,  but they moderate it and keep it at a cool 105 degrees!  We floated in it for 4 hours. It's very high salt content
We ate fresh fish at a fishing port, Kafee Duus.

Then we took a drive up the coast to the point of the peninsula
There a purple lupine flowers everywhere here!  And.... everyone owns horses.  I'm trying to figure out what they do with them.

We just checked into our flight.  Nobody checks passports here in Europe.  We flew from Austria to France and then Fance to Iceland,  and until Iceland nobody cared.... then...Alex and i got flagged in Iceland,  and we got interigated by 3 different immigration officers!!!  😳

This was TSA...

Everyone in Iceland is overly sweet and nice!!!  We are just chilling in airport.   I'm very windburned.  The wind is so strong you have to be careful when you open your car doors or it will blow off... that isn't a joke.  They get 90mph winds pretty commonly here.

Paris, France 🇫🇷

Well, we did a solid Paris today and now Alex never has to come back to this swamp because he has seen it all!

It has been hot, and the French don't believe in AC.  They don't have it in old buildings or new buildings,  not on their subways, hotels or restaurants. It was 98 degrees today! AC is a luxury we are certainly missing and will most definitely appreciate when we go home.  ...one other notable mention,  a bottle of water is $6. Just 2 cents for the memory banks. 😅

BUT...we had a great day....

Today we did the Louvre Museum...

This is the largest painting in the museum... it's a depiction of The Last Supper.

AND we saw the Mona Lisa!!!!

...and we also saw The Broken Pitcure....funny how the original is round and not rectangular. .  This, if you recall, hung in Dads house for years and years.

Next we did The Palace of Versailles.   OMG I've never seen anything like it...stunning, overwhelming,  massive and just...wow...

And our flight to Iceland was canceled,  so we fly out in the morning.   Meanwhile,  we are at the airport Hilton ...a little USA away from home.

Alex comment of the day... today was an eye opener.

My thoughts...I'm so excited to be back in the US where tap water is free, bathrooms are free, and where we have AC.

And....last night in our sleep sacks 🤞
